Assuming that an Exchange Server Alternate means that usage of the Microsoft Outlook program as a 'fat' client application that can use the collaboration features.

And of course, if you are willing to dispense with the notion of fat clients... you might like Horde/IMP/etc. http://www.horde.org

Groupwise (Novell) and Scalix both support both Outlook and Evolution clients. (using a 'connector')

eGroupware has free Outlook sync and full-featured web client. Supposedly, eGroupware can work with Palm, Mobile, Evolution, et al using SyncML.
